    • Death Notice: Frederick A. Huffman of Saline, age 92, died Thursday, February 24, 2011 at his daughter’s home. He was born July 10, 1918 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Clyde Clifford & Zella Sophronia (Knoy) Huffman. Fred was an engineer for General Motors at the Hydra-Matic Willow Run Plant, retiring in 1984. After retiring, he worked at the GM Technical Center as a consultant. He was a member of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Saline Ward.  On May 29, 1971 he married Delores Lela Stokes in Bloomfield Hills, and she preceded him in death on December 29, 1985. Survivors include his daughter, Orenda (Remus) Zegrean of Chelsea; a brother, Ernest Huffman of Lewiston; two grandchildren, Viviana & Lorellei Zegrean; his step-children, Walter Clare, Kimberly (James) Christensen of Whitmore Lake, and her children, Jason Whitmer, Lauren Whitmer, and Katherine Christensen. He was preceded in death by his son, Andrew; his sister, Opal Huffman, and brother, Carl.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Ann Arbor Stake Center located at 525 Woodland Drive, Saline, MI 48176. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Saline. The family will receive friends before the funeral from 10 - 11 am. On May 29, 1971 in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., she married Frederick A. Huffman; he survives. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints, Ann Arbor Ward and a member of the Saline Chapter #311 O.E.S. Mrs. Huffman had served on the Saline Twp. Appeals Board, and Reach To Recovery, a volunteer group for the American Cancer Society and a very active volunter for the Saline Community Hospital. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Walter H. Clare and Andrew R. Huffman; two daughters, Mrs. Daniel (Kimberly) Whitmer and Orenda E. Huffman; one grandson, Jason C. Whitmer; five brothers, Henry G. Stokes Jr., Robert E. Stokes, Willard W. Stokes, L. George Stokes and James O. Sanders. Several nieces and nephews also survive Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 31, 1985 at 12 noon from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints, Ann Arbor with Max Madsen officiating. Burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery, Saline. Visitation will begin at the funeral home on Monday, December 30, 1985 between the hours of 6-9 p.m. and at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
