    HOOGAKKER, Mrs. Annie Nuyen, 911 Trimble
    Passed away Sept. 22, 1970. Mrs. Hoogakker was born January 4, 1891 in Groningen, Netherlands, the daughter of William and Hermina Smith Nuyen and had been a resident here since 1906. She was employed by the Kalamazoo Paper Co. for many years until her retirement. Mrs. Hoogakker was a member of the New Apostolic Church. On Sept. 3, 1912, she was married to Barney K. Hoogakker, who survives. Also surviving are on son, Claude of Scotts; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers and one sister, Joseph, Sam, Johann Nuyen, and Mrs. Gertrude Michaels, all of Kalamazoo. Friends will be received at the Joldersma & Klein Funeral HOme, where services will be held Friday at 3 o’clock. Evangelist Kenneth D. Cook officiating. Interment in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery.

    Couple to Mark 55th Anniversary With Open House
    Mr. nd Mrs. Barney Hoogakker, 10179 W. Main, will celebrate theeir 55th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2 to 5 pm Sunday at their home
    Mr. Hoogakker and the former Annie Nuyen were married Sept 3, 1912 in Kalamazoo.
    The open house will be given by th ecouple’s children: Mrs. Armena Langdon, Kalamazoo and Claude Hoogakker, Scotts Route 1. Another son, William Hoogakker, is deceased. The couple also has 10 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
    Mr Hoogakker was employed by Sutherland Paper Co. before his retirement.
