    IS KILLED BY A BULL
Terrible Battle Waged by Farmer Lads Against Mad Holstein.
Cleveland, Aug. 10. A giant Holstein bull battled yesterday with Fred Tonsing and two boys near Bedford. Tonsing was gored to death. The lads fought the beast and rescued the still breathing body of the farmer from its infuriated rushes. They and other farmers subdued the animal with pitchforks.
Deadly persistence was shown by the bull in his attacks. Once Tonsing was down, the animal charged again and again, tossing and trampling the body.
After the two boys, Tonsing’s nephews, Ernest Meilander, 17, and Henry Meilander, 15, had dragged the body from the field in which the combat occurred a race with death to St. Alexis Hospital in an ambulance was made. Life was extinct before the hospital was reached.
