    James Latvala
    CALUMET James Latvala, 57, lifelong area resident, passed away Friday, March 28, 1997, at his residence in Calumet following a lengthy illness.
    Jim was born on March 30, 1939 in Calumet, a son of Victor and Rose Latvala. He had attended the local schools of the area and was a graduate of Calumet High School, Class of 1957.
    He had worked for the Calumet & Hecla Mining Company for a while and since 1966, he was an independent insurance agent.
    He had served with the 107th Engineers of the National Guard in Calumet for eight years.
    He was married to Rosalyn Heikkinen on April 28, 1962 in Calumet. He is preceded in death by his parents.
    He is survived by his wife, Rosalyn; two sons, Darrel Latvala of Calumet, Darrin Latvala of Calumet; a daughter, Denise Latvala of Calumet; four grandchildren, Michael, Margaret, Jesse, and Oakley, all of Calumet; a brother, David (Phyllis) Latvala of Mohawk; several aunts and uncles; a niece; two nephews; and cousins.
    Friends may join the family at 11:00 Tuesday morning, April 1, 1997 at the Erickson Crowley Funeral Home of Calumet where a funeral service will be held by Father Cyprian Berens, OFM.
