Notes |
- “Baltzer Juday, a prominent pioneer, was born in Preble county, Ohio, in 1818, the son of Henry and Elizabeth Juady, natives of Rockingham county, Va., and of English and German descent; educated in common schools of this State, having emigrated here in 1836. He is one of the few who are admitted to the county fair free on the ground of having been a resident of this county for 40 years. In 1843 he married Ann Price, and they had 2 children, 1 of whom is living. Mrs. J. died in 1845, and Mr. Juday in 1848 married Elizabeth Heltzel, and they had 5 chilldren. She died, and Mr. J. subsequently married his present wife, by whom he has 11 children. The parents are members of the Christian Church, and Mr. J. in politics is a Democrat. The pioneer experiences of Mr. Juday are many, and for an outline of those which are characteristic we must refer the reader to other parts of the volume, where many pages are devoted to the subject. Residence, sec. 13; P.O., Ligonier.” Histrory of Elkahrt County, pp. 672-673.
