Death Notice | HOOGAKKER, Claude B. Scotts : Newspaper Obituary and Death Notice Kalamazoo Gazette - November 2, 2008 Deceased Name: HOOGAKKER, Claude B. Scotts HOOGAKKER, Claude B. Claude passed away Friday morning, October 31, 2008 at his home with hospice. He was born March 30, 1915 in Kalamazoo, the son of Barney and Anna Hoogakker. Claude was a lifetime farmer and was employed by Georgia-Pacific for 29 years until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of North Park Reformed Church. Preceding him in death were his first wife, Ruth Burr; second wife, Esther Hoogakker; his parents; one daughter, Claudia Hill; step-son, John W. Iles; one brother, Bill Hoogakker; and one sister, Armenia Langdon. Surviving are two daughters, Ann Merrian of Vicksburg of Vicksburg, and Bonnie Nelson of Richland; three step-children, Dorothy Sharp of Vicksburg, Jimmy Iles of Delton, and Arlene Pryson of Vicksburg; step-daughter-in-law, Carol Iles; 27 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Claude will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at North Park Reformed Church, 1316 Barney Road, with Rev. Paul D. Fazio officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 PM on Monday and 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Tuesday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street. The open house will be given by th ecouple’s children: Mrs. Armena Langdon, Kalamazoo and Claude Hoogakker, Scotts Route 1. Another son, William Hoogakker, is deceased.
