MAN KILLS SELF AT BEAR LAKE
Charles Painchard, 54, of Detroit, Takes Own Life With Gun
Despondent because he had been out of work for months, Charles Painchard, 54, a Detroit man who had been living at Bear Lake since October, shot and killed himself with a shotgun either last night or early this morning. Coroner Ray Bradford was called to Bear Lake on the case this morning.
Painchard had come to Bear Lake in October and had been living in a little cabin near Royce's resort, getting his meals for the odd jobs he did for people nearby.
He was last seen yesterday noon. When he did not respond to a call to breakfast this morning, a neighbor investigated and found him on the floor of his cabin, dead, the shotgun by his side. Neighbors did not hear the sound of the shot.
His wife in Detroit, the only survivor, has been notified and is on her way to take the body back to Detroit.  [12
